Washington State University has recently hired Thomas Henick-Kling as the new Director of Viticulture and enology program. Henick-Kling has always had a passion for the wine industry beginning while he was a young boy in Germany going with his father to buy wine. Once he finished his master’s in microbiology at Oregon State University he went to Australia to complete his Ph.D. Now WSU is excited to have the chance to grow the industry here in Washington and invest more time in the research and education side of the industry. WSU is looking forward to having Henick-Kling move to the Tri-Cities soon with his wife, Jan, and their 19-year-old son.
