WSU Tri Cities Fun Run in Memory of Multicultural Pioneer

This Saturday WSU Tri Cities will be sponsoring the first Fun Run on campus in memory of a multicultural pioneer. The 5K fun run/walk, in memory of William Owen Bush, will be free for all participants and will be held on the WSU Tri Cities campus this Saturday March 28 beginning at 9 am.

William Owen Bush was a mixed-race settler in the Tumwater area in the 1800s. Bush and his family helped organize WWIA (Western Washington Industrial Association) in 1872. Bush also helped to start Washington State College in Pullman in the late 1800s by helping to write house Bill 90 which meant federal money could be used to establish a college for the study of the science of agriculture.
